The issue of solidarity and unity is rather complicated. People are united during époques of totalitarian regimes because they are united, for example, by some idea of Stalin. In a democratic state people must have different opinions and such different opinions must be respected. What happened in Lithuania 20 years ago was solidarity, however it cannot be compared with the present day Lithuania with numerous opinions and all of them right.

Small portion of the bricks will be redone due to the mistakes and some technical problems. There are still 170 more bricks that can be sold untill March 11th, 2011.

Projects Implemented

Sculpture “The Twins”

The Business Triangle in Vilnius on the bank of the River Neris was decorated by one more modern building – 7.5 m height sculpture by Tadas Gutauskas “The Twins”. This modern exterior sculpture erected downtown is the outcome of the five years dream of the artist the realisation of which was proposed by representatives of the Company “Eika”.

The artist and businessmen supporting the Project implementation hope that the sculpture of "The Twins" will enliven the present urban image of Vilnius City and will be an encouraging example for representatives of business co-solidarity to invest in contemporary art.

Extracts from the article “Time to put the calculator in the pocket”, Lietuvos žinios, 5 August 2006
“Unfortunately, investors who construct skyscrapers have a very provincial mindset. They think that it is enough to construct a building, lease it out, earn profit and that is that. They don’t think at all about the great number of people who gather in that building. How do they feel there? How does its atmosphere differ from others? What is distinctive about the building?”

“Some new buildings are very interesting. I vote for the modern architecture reflecting our époque and our living environment However, there is a need for certain accents to appear in the neighbourhood of the buildings to create the impression of uniqueness, originality and distinctness.”

“In Chicago and Tokyo at night the eyes are attracted by illuminated sculptures. It's a wonderful feeling! The city revives and gains spirit. Sculptures, in particular the modern ones, add meaning, colour and warmth to the city”.

“It is not pleasant to live only among bricks, cement and plaster.”
